VJ Jose, the Periyar Riverkeeper introduced the event by telling his stories and his connection with the dying River. He thanked Friends of Riverkeeper, a newly-formed informal group of Riverkeeper supporters from different parts of the world for taking the initiative to buy a wooden boat and to build an Action Circle . Cartoonist Yesudasan spoke briefly about his association with Jose and the river. He inaugurated the River Patrolling and the Action Circle by cutting a ribbon. A gathering of the members of Eloor Ferry Resident’s Association (EFRA), Kudumbasree and Design & People along with supporters and well-wishers of Periyar Riverkeeper were present to bless the occasion.
